Song of the Week: You Don’t Love Me Like You Should- Hey Violet

Hey Violet is an LA based band comprised of Rena Lovelis on bass and lead vocals, Nia Lovelis on drums, Casey Moreta on lead guitar and Miranda Miller on rhythm guitar and keyboard. The average age among them is around 18. They were originally an all girl band under the name Cherri Bomb but split with former lead singer Julia and added Casey to the band renaming it Hey Violet. This year they were signed to 5 Seconds of Summer’s label Hi or Hey Records, and were the opening act for the band on the U.S, Canada and European legs of their Rock Out With Your Socks Out (ROWYSO) tour. They released their EP ‘I Can Feel It, the first as Hey Violet (Cherri Bomb had been signed to Hollywood Records, and released a full length album in 2012) in July. I saw Hey Violet this August at the St. Paul, Minnesota stop on the ROWYSO tour. While politics and rumors are frequently brought up with the band the truth is they held the crowd of several thousands attention and enthusiasm as they warmed the crowd up for the 5 Seconds of Summer, including encouraging the crowd to ‘whip and nae nae’ along to their set.

All in all, I’ll say my full verdict on the band might still be out but this song is definitely catchy, and if you like this one I’d recommend checking out ‘This is Why.’

Without further ado, your song of the week: You Don’t Love Me Like You Should.
