PVRIS (pronounced Paris) is an American band formed in Lowell, Massachusetts by Lyndsey Gunnulfsen (Lynn Gunn), Alex Babinski and Brian MacDonald in 2012. While on Warped Tour in 2014 Huffington Post had this to say about the band, and more specifically front-woman Lynn (you can find the article here) “Lynn Gunn is a force that cannot be denied, redolently poignant in both her most excitable and serene vocalizations. The first female-led signing of Rise Records, a label that has almost implausibly made metalcore music equally accessible and desirable, the label may have just made its smartest acquisition yet.” Though they had self-released several EP’s and singles before signing to Tragic Hero and later Rise and Velocity their first official release was “St. Patrick” the lead single and video off their debut album White Noise. “St. Patrick” released as a single in June 2014 with White Noise released on November 4, 2014. More recently in 2015 the band won Best International Newcomer at the Relentless Kerrang! Awards and Alternative Press Music Awards’ Breakthrough Band Award. They’ve supported Bring Me the Horizon on their American and European tours and will be heading out with Fall Out Boy and Awolnation for Fall Out Boy’s Headlining ‘Wintour.‘
Rock Sound described the band style as “dark electro-pop” mixed with “stadium sized rock.” Their darker side can be explored in your song of the week Mind Over Matter and in their TV debut performance on Jimmy Kimmel just last week. Take a look at those videos here (Mind Over Matter) and here (Jimmy Kimmel)!
