A newly brunette M. Train has released the first single from her upcoming album, Thank You. After L.A. Reid said there wasn’t a single off the tracks recorded Trainor went back to the studio and the next day they had No. A sassier, saucier side of the self proclaimed “retro girl.” A little more urban, a little more hip hop (in fact she’s really hoping for a Missy Elliot remix) She plays with listeners a little in the intro, making us believe it’s the same Meghan from the All About That Bass and Dear Future Husband tracks and then, as she said to Time in her interview about the song, “slap[s] ’em in the face” with her new sound.
It’s a song that grows on you, as I told my roommate when she asked me about it, I like it with an asterisk. Check it for yourself and let me know what you think in the comments below or on social media @maddi_rose13!
